Job summary

University of Rochester's UR Medicine Labs is hiring a Clinical Support Tech 2 in Rochester, NY. The role performs technical assignments, processes specimens, and ensures specimen integrity on the automation line by following established procedures.

You will enter patient demographics and insurance info into the EMR, log test data into the LIS, prioritize specimens, and assist with problem resolution. Training for staff and coordination across locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 1 year related experience or certification in a related field.
• 12 months related work experience in a healthcare setting or 12 months as a temporary employee.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Enters patient demographics and insurance information into the EMR accurately.
• Logs patient and test information into the LIS and verifies requisitions.
• Reconciles batch manifests and tracks specimens for testing.
• Triages samples to meet turnaround times and prioritizes workflow.
• Maintains proficiency in operational systems and facilitates problem resolution.
• Provides training for other laboratory personnel as needed.
• Receives inquiries from providers and internal staff to route appropriately.
• Other duties as assigned.
