Job summary

University of Rochester Medicine is seeking a regular, full-time Clinical Laboratory Support Tech II to perform a variety of technical assignments, follow procedures, and ensure specimen integrity for hospital testing. Associate's degree in a related field required; 1 year of experience as Clinical Laboratory Support Tech II, or 2 years in a health care setting.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and basic lab operations.

Responsibilities

Enters patient demographic and insurance information into the EMR accurately.
Logs test information into LIS and verifies acceptable criteria.
Receives pre-accessioned specimens into LIS and reconciles batch manifests.
Identifies specialized testing requests and prioritizes specimens to meet turn-around time.
Prepares specimens and determines stability and appropriate aliquotting technique.
Trains staff and participates in competency reviews.
Acts as point of contact for shift issues and equipment troubleshooting.
