Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado, seeks an experienced Lab Support Assistant for a full-time role. The position involves advanced specimen processing, phlebotomy, and laboratory testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Molecular Diagnostics.

The incumbent may lead teams and oversee training and special projects. Shift details are 1:00pm-9:30pm; benefits eligible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in clinical or pathology lab assistant role required.

Responsibilities

• Advanced knowledge of EMR/LIS to place orders, receive and route specimens, track and label specimens, and query results.
• Maintains competency and performs waived or moderately complex diagnostic testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Molecular Diagnostics.
• Provides clerical, administrative, and customer service support to the department, answers phones, and assists nursing staff, physicians, and patients.
• Communicates procedures and instructions empathetically with patients and families, handling stressful situations calmly.
• Monitors and maintains supply inventory; tracks usage and places orders.
• Responsible for training and orientation of new caregivers.
• Assists in schedule management and shift coverage.
• Leads process improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
