Job summary

SPL is seeking a Lab Supervisor for our Artesia, NM laboratory to lead daily workflow, guide analytical testing operations, and ensure quality and compliance in a fast-paced accredited environment.

The successful candidate will manage personnel, coordinate testing priorities, and support employee development while ensuring safety and regulatory adherence in a hands-on leadership role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline from an accredited program.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible analytical laboratory experience in regulated environments.
• 2+ years of experience leading laboratory personnel and developing staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership and supervision to laboratory personnel.
• Prioritize and monitor petroleum and hydrocarbon testing workflows to ensure timely results.
• Oversee instrumentation readiness, calibrations, maintenance, and resource allocation.
• Ensure testing aligns with analytical methods, quality systems, SOPs, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
• Review data and records for accuracy and compliance.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, methods, workflows, and processes.
• Monitor capacity, turnaround times, and performance metrics.
