Job summary

SPL is seeking a Lab Supervisor for our Artesia, NM laboratory to lead daily analytical testing operations and mentor a team of laboratory personnel. You will oversee workflows, instrument readiness, and data integrity in a fast-paced, accredited environment.

The ideal candidate has a chemistry/environmental science background with 3–5 years in analytical labs and 2+ years in leadership, along with strong knowledge of SOPs, QA/QC, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant science.
• 3–5 years of analytical lab experience in regulated environments.
• 2+ years leading laboratory personnel and workloads.
• Advanced knowledge of analytical instrumentation, methods, data review, quality systems, SOPs, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership, supervision, and support to laboratory personnel.
• Assign, prioritize, and monitor petroleum and hydrocarbon testing workflows to ensure timely results.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
• Oversee operations, instrumentation readiness, calibrations, preventive maintenance, and resource allocation.
• Ensure testing activities comply with methods, quality systems, SOPs, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Review analytical data, records, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, methods, workflows, and processes.
• Monitor capacity, turnover times, and performance metrics.
• Support audits, investigations, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Promote safety policies, PPE use, and environmental health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to support customer needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
