Responsible for operations and supervision of laboratory personnel. Accountable for keeping the Laboratory Manager informed of all testing issues, instrument status, and accuracy of data and results.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule lab assignments, oversee analytical testing work.
- Compile and verify lab test data; maintain accurate records of customer samples.
- Analyze quality control samples to ensure equipment efficiency.
- Provide training to laboratory analysts and act as liaison between technicians, Laboratory Manager, and Operations.
- Prepare corrective and preventative action reports related to QA/QC and maintain review records.
- Follow up on non-conformances, investigate, and implement corrective actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This position is safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment, random, and annual drug and alcohol testing.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years management experience in Petroleum Industry, or Associate’s Degree with 5+ years of experience in the Petroleum Industry.
- Strong managerial and interpersonal skills.
- Technical knowledge of laboratory operations.
- Effective communication skills with employees, consultants, management, and colleagues.
- Understanding of safety and training issues.
Working Conditions
Primarily in a laboratory setting with occasional trips for sample collection or delivery. Exposure to fumes, particles, and chemicals is possible. Protective equipment and safety protocols are provided and required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand long periods.
- Must pass drug, pulmonary fitness, respirator fit tests, and physical examination.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and work with odors within OSHA limits.
