Job summary

Weber State University is seeking a SCUA Student Assistant to join the Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) team. The role offers hands-on practice with archival imaging tech and handling historical documents.

Responsibilities include transcribing oral histories, updating documents and databases, organizing materials, and assisting patrons. 50/50 eligible, on-campus, 20 hours/week, for current full-time Weber State students with a 2.0 GPA. Hours are Mon-Fri 8:00am–5:00pm.

Job Summary/Basic Function

The Student Assistant will work in a team environment with Special Collections and University Archives ( SCUA ). They will be given the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge of current technology and best practices as related to the archives field. This student should be interested in handling unique historical documents and/or working with imaging software and technology.

As a project assistant, this individual will be given the opportunity to work with unique historical collections in one or more of the following ways:

  • Transcribe and edit oral histories
  • Update documents and databases
  • Organize and describe archival materials
  • Help organize storage spaces
  • Provide reference and research assistance to patrons
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and willing to assist with other programs and activities taking place in the department. This is a 50/50 eligible position that requires applicants to be current, full time, Weber State University students with at least a 2.0 GPA .

Work Schedule: Part-time, Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm flexible around class schedule.
