Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center seeks a Laboratory Student Technician to assist with specimen handling across Critical Care, Outpatient, and Outreach Laboratories. You will receive, accession, and process specimens, transport them, and respond to calls about results, collection requirements, and test availability.

Enrollment in a four-year or two-year science-related program is required, with preference for Medical Technology.

Qualifications

• For Hire: Enrolled in a four year or two year science related field. Prefer the program to be Medical Technology
• On going: Meets minimum continuing education requirements and mandatory health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Receives, accesses, and processes laboratory specimens.
• Transports specimens and answers telephone inquiries about results and test availability.
• Works under the direction of the Medical Laboratory Technician – Shift Coordinator and Lead Medical Technologist – Customer Services.
