Job summary

Principle Health Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Specimen Processor to join our Austin laboratory team. This full-time role handles accessioning of specimens, data entry, and documentation in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to multitask with accuracy. Prior accessioning experience is preferred but not required, and new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong computer skills with data entry proficiency.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens into the laboratory system with accuracy.
• Handle and process a high volume of specimens (urine, blood, stool) with labeling and preparation for testing.
• Troubleshoot specimens that do not meet acceptance criteria.
• Maintain contact with ordering client or agency for documentation corrections or insurance prior-authorizations.
• Document and track specimens on hold pending verification or order corrections.
• Document, track, and notify client or agency of specimen rejections.
• Use laboratory software to enter, verify, and track specimen information.
• Maintain inventory of accessioning supplies and keep workspace stocked.
