University of Utah is seeking a Lab Specialist to perform advanced laboratory techniques and procedures in a research setting. The role may include veterinary technical support for animal model studies and collaboration with the Huntsman Cancer Institute to reduce the cancer burden.

Formación

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or other scientific discipline or equivalency.
Two years full-time laboratory experience.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

Responsabilidades

Performs and/or directs standard and complex lab tests and experiments for studies.
Assists PI in design, implementation and modification of protocols.
Reviews journals and literature for experimental procedures.
Makes advanced statistical calculations, analyzes data and prepares reports.
Operates specialized laboratory and surgical instruments; trains others.
Maintains log of supplies used in procedures.
May supervise and train laboratory personnel.
May prepare equipment and rooms for studies; assist with budgets.
Develops research protocols; records and interprets results; works independently under supervision.
