The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Lab Specialist to join Dr. Mani Mahadevan's lab. The lab focuses on using mouse models to study RNA toxicity in myotonic muscular dystrophy, aiming to find treatments for this neuromuscular disease. The Lab Specialist will work closely with the PI and other team members, performing experiments independently.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with mice, PCR genotyping, protein isolation, immunoblotting, tissue sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry.
Physical Demands: Extensive standing, squatting, keyboarding, and fine finger manipulations required.
Candidate Attributes: Strong work ethic, communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, meticulous, and detail-oriented.
Education & Experience: Bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, or related field; 2 years of lab experience (or 4 years without degree); experience managing mouse colonies preferred.
