The Brandebura lab at the University of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory and Research Technician to assist in studies on astrocyte dysfunction related to neurodevelopmental disorders. Responsibilities include animal colony management, lab inventory, experimental work, and collaboration with team members. Ideal candidates should have relevant educational backgrounds and lab experience. This is a benefitted position based in Charlottesville, VA.
The Brandebura lab, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine Department of Neuroscience, seeks candidates for Laboratory and Research Technician 2, Lab Specialist, Lab Specialist Intermediate, or Lab Specialist Senior. The lab studies astrocyte dysfunction in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders such as Down Syndrome and Alzheimer’s Disease. Our focus is on targeting astrocytes and their signaling to other glial cells and vasculature to improve neuroinflammation, blood-brain barrier, and synapse function. We utilize mouse models and primary cell cultures to investigate biological mechanisms.
The lab is newly established, and the candidate will work closely with the principal investigator to set up the lab. Responsibilities include:
