Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Lab Services Coordinator to support the Clinical Trials Processing Lab. You will join a multidisciplinary team and assist with labeling, specimen processing, storage, and shipping in line with regulatory policies.

The role emphasizes data management, inventory control, and collaboration with investigators and external labs. A strong foundation in lab safety, documentation, and communication is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or health-related sciences, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory principles, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with tissue, blood, urine, and bone marrow samples preferred.
• Data collection and data entry experience required; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• assists with CTPL activities including labeling tubes and preparing samples
• Constructs sample libraries across various specimen types (e.g., blood, plasma, urine, tissue)
• Manages data, inventory control, and quality control of human specimens
• Operates prescribed lab methods and automated equipment; keeps maintenance logs
• Prepares supplies for specimen collection and shipping per SOPs
• Receives, processes, and distributes specimens including time-sensitive samples
• Maintains sample and kit inventory in electronic databases
• Completes requisition forms and maintains audit-ready sample records
• Communicates with outside reference labs and resolves testing issues
• Interacts with clinical research protocols and hospital staff
• Participates in data entry, audits, FDA inspections, and CQI efforts
