The Doe Run Company seeks a Laboratory Quality Supervisor for the Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO. You will oversee data review, validate analytical results, and maintain QA/QC records to ensure accuracy and traceability.

You will develop and maintain SOPs, oversee method development, and coach the analytical team to achieve consistent, high-quality results while upholding EHS standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, QA or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in QA/QC to support lab processing.
• Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience.
• Experience in audits, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee data review and validation to ensure analytical integrity and QA/QC compliance; maintain quality records and summarize performance trends.
• Develop, update, and maintain laboratory SOPs and QA/QC documentation; perform verification testing with certified standards; support method development.
• Lead training of analytical staff, conduct performance audits, and drive quality improvements to establish a QMS.
• Provide technical guidance for calibration, instrument performance, and process optimization for reliable results.
• Maintain EHS compliance by enforcing policies and reporting unsafe acts; support continuous EHS improvements.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Laboratory Quality Supervisor for our Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO, responsible for ensuring analytical accuracy, maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and supporting method development and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is scheduled to work M-F, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and may include a weekend rotation.

This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan. Benefits start on the first day and include insurance, paid time off, and various customer discount programs.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control to support lab processing.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership.
• Experience in conducting audits, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs and Laboratory Information Management Systems.
• Proficient working knowledge of analytical chemical lab equipment and operation.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
• Proficient organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Proficient leadership skills to coach and lead an analytical chemistry team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee data review and validation to ensure analytical integrity and compliance with QA/QC requirements. Verify that results meet accuracy, precision, and traceability standards. Maintain quality records and prepare reports summarizing performance trends or deviations.
• Develop, update, and maintain laboratory SOPs and QA/QC documentation. Perform or oversee verification testing using certified standards. Conduct method development or test work to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of laboratory procedures.
• Oversee training of analytical staff, conduct performance audits, and drive quality improvement efforts to establish and enforce an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
• Perform advanced sample analysis and assist with troubleshooting analytical or procedural issues as needed. Provide technical guidance for calibration, instrument performance, and process optimization to ensure consistent, reliable results.
• Maintain EHS (environmental, health, and safety) compliance by holding direct reports accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; evaluating employee EHS performance via field observations and document review; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and providing feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements:

• Hand tools, non-powered, computer/tablet, phones/radios, personnel carriers (side‑by‑side or over‑the‑road vehicles), loading/hauling equipment.
• Frequently required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator, hearing protection, and eyewear, and work near moving, mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to extreme cold. Moderate noise level.
• Regularly sitting, talking, hearing, feeling attributes of objects, grasping, pushing, standing, walking. Reaching with hands/arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, climbing or balancing, repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement. Requires Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; Three-dimensional vision – ability to judge distance and space relationships; Precise hand‑eye coordination; Ability to identify and distinguish colors. Level of attention required: concentrated.
• Regularly required to lift up to 5 pounds; frequently required to lift up to 15 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
