Job summary

Roper St. Francis Healthcare, Berkeley Hospital Laboratory Services Ancillary, seeks a Lab Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy and related specimen collection using LIS and HIS systems. You will enter orders, process specimens, generate reports, and provide courteous customer service in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications include High School/GED, 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred, and phlebotomy certification preferred. Travel to off-site locations may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection procedures (nasal, oropharyngeal, venipuncture, etc.).
• Enters orders into LIS/HIS.
• Performs accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
• Generates reports from LIS/HIS.
• Provides basic customer service to patients and staff.

Monday - Friday, Flexible 4:00am - 1:00pm or 4:00am - 12:30pm

Rotates every other weekend, 4:00am - 12:30pm

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Lab Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and other specimen collection. They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, order entry, result look-up and report generation and specimen receiving and preparation. They answer phones and forward appropriate problems to proper area.
