Job description

The School of Nursing seeks a temporary lab operations manager to cover a leave of absence and help us maintain our excellent standard of nursing education. This is a 40-hour per week onsite position.

The EISLE Nursing Lab Operations Manager staff position will support EISLE labs through set-up, break-down, and inventory management for prelicensure and graduate labs. They will use materials and evaluation criteria developed by the EISLE Director and Assistant Director to teach and evaluate undergraduate students. This position collaborates with the EISLE team to ensure that laboratory operations run safely and efficiently. Incorporation of evidence-based practice into clinical skill acquisition is required.

Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Lab Support
  2. Lab Environment:
    • Adhere to semester schedules to prepare labs timely and anticipate upcoming preparation needs for multiple courses each week.
    • Maintain the lab environment by setting up and breaking down labs, restocking supplies, cleaning, and reusing supplies.
    • Maintain equipment and supplies, including inventory tracking.
  3. Maintaining Inventory (consumables and equipment):
    • Monitor and troubleshoot equipment, perform routine maintenance, and report issues.
    • Forecast and order supplies and equipment for upcoming semesters.
    • Assist with ordering and preparing student supply bags annually.
    • Use the SON database (NurSys) to check equipment in and out and communicate with borrowers.
    • Assist with annual inventory of supplies and equipment.
    • Support setup, breakdown, and transportation of equipment for simulations.
  4. Teach and Evaluate Students
  5. Preparation: Review modules, teaching aids, readings, and audiovisuals.
  6. Training: Train staff, graduate teaching associates, and new faculty following protocols.
  7. Teaching: Use approved principles and materials to teach and evaluate students based on faculty-developed curriculum and evaluation criteria.
  8. Practice Sessions: Facilitate lab times for student review and practice before evaluations and remediation.
  9. Data Mining
  10. Data Handling: Manage security documents per FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
  11. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data on student performance, evaluation reliability, attendance, and identify learning gaps.
  12. Record Keeping: Track attendance, tardiness, and absences to ensure timely completion of lab modules.
  13. Training: Attend scheduled EISLE training sessions.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
