Job summary

Stormont Vail HealthCare, Inc. in Topeka, KS, seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to supervise day-to-day laboratory operations, direct testing workflows, and mentor staff to uphold quality and patient safety.

You will collaborate with physicians and laboratory directors, ensure accreditation readiness and proficiency testing, and assist in budget, policies, and staffing to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MLS, biology, chemistry or related field.
• 2 years laboratory experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs the essential functions and marginal job duties of a medical laboratory scientist.
• Responsible for quality assurance and quality control of the analytical activities of the department.
• Works with laboratory medical director(s) and pathologists to meet physicians and patient needs.
• Ensures the section meets accrediting and governing body standards and participates in proficiency testing.
• Schedules staff, coordinates cross-training, and interviews applicants for open positions.
• Manages training/competency assessments and maintains supplies and equipment.
