Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a motivated Lab Assistant I (Necrospy) to support laboratory operations in a dynamic research environment. This entry-level role helps maintain organization, manage samples, aid study preparation, and ensure GLP and SOP compliance.

The position offers exposure to a busy, regulated lab setting with opportunities to learn laboratory operations, data handling, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Basic computer proficiency, incl. MS Office.
• Ability to follow procedures in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sterilize, organize, and distribute lab glassware and equipment.
• Support lab setup, housekeeping, and general organization.
• Label and prepare collection tubes and materials for activities.
• Process and organize biological samples for analysis.
• Assist with sample storage, archiving, and inventory management.
• Monitor and document equipment temperatures.
• Prepare for study activities and animal arrivals, ensure readiness.
• Maintain supplies and PPE inventory.
• Assist with data entry, documentation, and reports.
• Operate basic lab equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Transport materials between facilities as needed.
• Follow GLP, SOPs, and safety requirements.
