Job summary

Charles River is seeking a motivated Lab Assistant I (Necrospy) to support laboratory operations in a dynamic research environment. This entry‑level role focuses on maintaining organization, sample management, study preparation, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in scientific research, laboratory operations, and the life sciences industry within a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to follow written procedures and work accurately in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sterilize, organize, and distribute laboratory glassware and equipment.
• Support laboratory setup, housekeeping, and general organization.
• Label and prepare collection tubes and materials for laboratory activities.
• Process and organize biological samples for future analysis.
• Assist with sample storage, archiving, and inventory management.
• Monitor and document equipment, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures.
• Support preparation for research study activities and animal arrivals, including equipment and supply readiness.
• Maintain laboratory supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other inventory items.
• Assist with data entry, documentation, record maintenance, and report preparation.
• Operate basic laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance activities.
• Transport laboratory materials and supplies between facilities as needed.
• Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all applicable safety requirements.
