Job summary

BayCare Health System in Riverview, FL seeks a Lab Medical Assistant - St. Joseph's South to handle specimen collection and processing for testing. You will work evenings in a PRN-like schedule, collaborating with nursing, physicians, and outside labs to ensure accurate referrals and timely results.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy procedures, specimen management, and supporting the lab team. A high school diploma is required; a related bachelor’s degree may substitute experience.

Qualifications

• Required - 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field
• Required High School or equivalent
• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Responsibilities

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilities:

The Lab Medical Assistant II is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing

• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens

• Referring specimens to outside laboratories

• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests

• Performance of phlebotomy procedures

• Performs other duties as assigned

Experience:

• Required - 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field

Education:

• Required High School or equivalent

• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Credentials:

• Driver's License

Credential equivalent experience:

• Preferred Phlebotomy
