Job summary

UC San DiegoMoores Cancer Center seeks a highly qualified researcher to develop novel protein‑based cancer therapeutics. You will design vectors, produce and purify proteins, and analyze pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics using advanced molecular biology tools.

The role requires experience in viral vectors, protein purification and in vivo studies, with strong data interpretation and collaboration across biomedical teams.

Qualifications

• Advanced theoretical knowledge in virology, biochemistry or molecular biology.
• Experience with design of vectors for recombinant protein production.
• Experience with biochemical techniques and routine lab equipment.
• Ability to contribute to original project ideas and experimental design.
• Knowledge of large‑scale protein production in bacteria and mammalian cells.
• Experience with protein purification including HPLC, FPLC and affinity resins.
• Understanding of antibodies, antibody‑drug conjugates and pharmacokinetics.
• Experience with cell culture, transfection, flow cytometry, and imaging.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, perform and analyze experiments for novel protein‑based cancer therapeutics.
• Design vectors for production of recombinant proteins and assess functionality.
• Purify proteins using chromatographic systems and characterize them.
• Interpret analytical data from HPLC, FPLC, FACS, IHC and related tools.
• Manage efficacy, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies in animals.
• Train staff and students in cutting‑edge experimental techniques.
