Job summary

Under supervision, you will assist with expression and purification of recombinant proteins and help mentor undergraduate students in the lab.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge of biology, chemistry, or biochemistry, or equivalent previous laboratory experience.
• Ability to perform routine laboratory calculations (e.g., molarity).
• Ability to follow verbal and written procedures.
• Knowledge of or skill in preparation of media buffers.
• Basic knowledge of molecular biology, protein biochemistry and structural biology techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills including tact, diplomacy and ability to interact effectively with other lab members.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to keep accurate records.
• Basic understanding of experimental and laboratory techniques including knowledge of and adherence to laboratory safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, assist with molecular biological and biochemical techniques to express and purify recombinant proteins.
• Place orders, keep records of chemical inventories, equipment maintenance and repair and lab safety compliance.
• Maintain and general upkeep of the lab, and help with training and mentoring of undergraduate students in the lab.
