Job summary

Castle Biosciences, Inc. is hiring a full-time Clinical Research Laboratory Technologist to work from the Phoenix, AZ laboratory. Responsibilities include preparing patient samples, operating instruments, and executing assays under SOPs and study plans.

The role supports ongoing clinical research with daily tasks in sample tracking, QC, equipment maintenance, and data documentation. A BS in a related field with 1–2 years in a lab is required, with military lab training accepted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, CLS, or Medical Technology; 1–2 years in a clinical/research lab.
• Completion of 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training program.
• Minimum 24 sem hrs in medical laboratory tech courses or science courses including chemistry and biology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process patient samples; operate laboratory instruments and execute assays per SOPs and study plans.
• Support ongoing studies by following experimental designs and resolving technical issues.
• Maintain sample tracking and workflows in LIMS; perform routine quality control and equipment maintenance.
• Document results in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements; assist with assay development and data review.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Clinical Research Laboratory Technologist

This role is a hands-on bench position focused on supporting clinical research studies. Responsibilities include preparing and processing patient samples, operating laboratory instruments, and executing assays in strict accordance with approved SOPs and study plans. You will work closely with Clinical Research Scientists to support ongoing studies, follow experimental designs, and resolve technical issues to ensure accurate and timely testing. Daily tasks also include maintaining sample tracking and workflows in LIMS, performing routine quality control and equipment maintenance, and documenting results in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. Depending on study needs, you may perform molecular techniques such as RNA/DNA extraction or PCR-based assays and support assay development, validation, and data review in a collaborative research laboratory environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution, plus 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment. And/or have completion of military training for laboratory technicians as high complexity testing. Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training program.
• Minimum 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses, including 6 semester hours of both Chemistry & Biology & an additional 12 semester hours in any combination of Chemistry, Biology, or Medical Laboratory
• Technical proficiency, scientific creativity, successful collaboration with others, and independent
• The Clinical Research Technologist in the clinical research laboratory can be placed on a track towards obtaining American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB) board certification if not already credentialed upon hire.

Preferred

• Preferred 2-4 years of clinical laboratory experience or 2-4 years of clinical research experience.

SCHEDULE

• Monday - Friday, 8:30 pm to 5:00 pm, exempt position, working from our Phoenix, AZ laboratory.
