Job summary

PTR Global in San Diego, CA seeks a Laboratory Technician to set up and manage a large-scale hardware rack testing environment for firmware projects. You will handle a multitude of devices and fixtures, providing in-lab support to enable automated system testing.

The role involves collaborating with firmware, software engineering, and test automation teams to configure test hardware, troubleshoot environments, and improve lab automation processes while documenting procedures.

Qualifications

• 2 years of building and managing a lab with devices.
• Technical support experience or equivalent in computer hardware and networking.
• Experience in managing MacOS and iOS devices.
• Experience in automating device management using Python, Bash and Ansible.
• Strong in diagnosing and resolving system and user-level issues in MacOS, iOS or Linux.
• A team-player in nature with good communications and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage a large-scale hardware rack testing environment for firmware projects.
• Manage a myriad of devices and fixtures running on device clusters.
• Provide in-lab support to enable automated system testing on racks.
• Work with firmware and software engineering teams to configure test hardware.
• Collaborate with the test automation team to troubleshoot environment issues and improve lab automation.
