Progress West Hospital is seeking a full-time Lab Associate II, primarily at the Winghaven Outpatient Center in O'Fallon, MO, with occasional rotations at the hospital. The role supports phlebotomy and lab processing across on-site and outpatient settings, with opportunities for growth in a busy laboratory.

The position requires completing specimen collection and processing duties, coordinating STAT orders, and providing accurate patient interactions.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree.
• Experience: 2–5 years preferred; no explicit required experience.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician orders and order tests in the appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and patient interaction, ensuring proper collection and specimen integrity.
• Work in outpatient labs, physician offices, or off-campus patient service centers.
• Sort and process specimens, handling all specimens received by the laboratory proficiently.
• Coordinate simultaneous tasks accurately, including STAT orders and workload fluctuations, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

Additional Information About The Role

Progress West Hospital has a full-time Lab Associate II opportunity for an experienced phlebotomist and lab processor. Primary location will be at the Winghaven Outpatient Center in O'Fallon, MO, with occasional rotations at the hospital. The role offers a great opportunity for growth in a laboratory setting.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am - 5pm

Overview

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County. It offers 24‑hour emergency services and partners with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world‑class pediatric emergency care. The hospital also provides surgical and endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and an Advanced Wound Center. The Childbirth Center has recently expanded to include enhanced services for at‑risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU capable of caring for infants born as early as 32 weeks. Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center, and its medical office building houses specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

Laboratory Services provide on‑site services 24/7. Point‑of‑Care Testing offers immediate diagnostics for emergency situations. On‑site patient testing includes Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank/Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Clinical Microscopy. Mobile Care Units perform bedside, in‑patient blood work and accurate specimen labeling. Outpatient lab draw services are available 7 a.m.–7 p.m., Monday‑Friday. All departments support the hospital’s guiding principles of customized care reflecting each patient’s needs, values, and choices.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Perform specimen collection, specimen handling, and clerical duties. Experienced in phlebotomy and proficient at additional tasks such as central processing, in‑office phlebotomy, or inventory management.
