Job summary

Christian Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a Lab Associate III with strong phlebotomy experience to support pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory duties. The role emphasizes organization and clear communication in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include performing waived and moderate complex tests, reporting results under supervision, handling high-level specimens, coordinating tasks to meet turnaround times, and maintaining inventory and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–5 years of lab experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience required.
• BLS certification preferred.

• Report test results under supervision as appropriate.
• Sort and process routine and high-level specimens, including esoteric send-out tests.
• Coordinate tasks to meet turnaround times and manage workload.
• Maintain inventory and perform equipment cleaning and maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs a variety of pre analytic, analytic and post analytic laboratory duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived and moderate complex testing with appropriate training and competency, sweat chloride collections, EKG's, etc.
• Under supervision, reports test results as appropriate.
• Sorts and processes routine and specific high level specimens received by the lab--including multistep technical processing (i.e. Histology, Microbiology, Cytology, etc.). Ensures correct processing and packaging for esoteric send out tests.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Inventory management, equipment cleaning, maintenance, loading, etc.
