Job summary

InterMed, Scarborough location, is hiring a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist for an anticipated January 2027 start. The role focuses on phlebotomy, specimen processing, and proper handling of LIS/EMR workflows. You will help prepare samples for transport to the main lab and ensure accurate requisitions.

The position requires completion of a phlebotomy training course with preferred phlebotomy experience; strong customer service and teamwork are essential as we build a new team at our Scarborough site.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of phlebotomy or lab assistant training.
• 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Excellent judgment, communication and patient handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy for adults and children while ensuring patient safety.
• Accession and process lab samples in LIS/EMR systems.
• Maintain supplies and perform QC on waived platforms.
• Assist in training new staff and participate in quality improvement.
