Job summary

CHI Mercy Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to assist in specimen collection, receiving, processing, and distribution of specimens under the direction of leadership. You will perform clerical duties, prepare specimens for send-outs, and assist with initial plating in Microbiology while maintaining strict adherence to protocols.

The role requires attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to handle a high volume of samples to ensure timely diagnostic information.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• AHA BLS within 90 days of hire preferred.
• Lab Assistant/Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process, organize, and move samples for testing and packaging for send-outs.
• Perform venous and capillary punctures on all ages following collection procedures.
• Perform CLIA waived and moderately complex testing under direction.
• Maintain inventory, stock supplies and manage records.
• Work with team to ensure accurate and timely flow of diagnostic information.
