What You'll Do:

The Lab Assistant supports student academic success by preparing, assisting, and resetting lab sessions.

1. Works in conjunction with the Program Director and instructor to coordinate instructional lab sessions.
2. Assists students with hands-on lab sessions.
3. Assists instructors with instructional components of lab sessions.
4. Educates students on proper hazardous waste disposal and ensures storage and disposal align with OSHA and campus safety protocols.
5. Enforces lab safety codes in all lab areas to assure student and colleague safety.
6. Communicates professionally with the Program Director regarding laboratory maintenance and supply inventory for restocking and ordering.
7. Efficiently sets up and breaks down lab sessions.
8. Performs assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

What We Need From You:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Must have:

1. Three years’ practical experience in the content area or program field.
2. Current and in good standing license from the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
3. Current licensed pharmacist or certified pharmacy technician by a nationally recognized and accredited credentialing agency.
4. Ability to establish and maintain appropriate levels of authority as well as creating an atmosphere of support and confidence for students.
5. Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, follow oral and written instructions; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
6. Familiarity with laboratory equipment.

Nice to have:

1. Graduated from a program in the content area or program field at an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
2. Prior post-secondary instructor experience.
