Overview

Under supervision, the Pharmacy Associate I will support Clinical Pharmacy Services (CPS), handling calls with members, prescribers, and pharmacists to facilitate medication-related initiatives. The role includes assisting in sorting medication prior authorization requests under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities
  1. Review medication information, contact members, and record outcomes in the pharmacy database.
  2. Handle outbound and inbound calls with members, prescribers, and pharmacists regarding client-specific work.
  3. Sort medication prior authorization requests into appropriate drug classes within compliance timeframes.
  4. Provide information to prescribers and pharmacists about member prescriptions.
  5. Participate in orientation and training for new Pharmacy Associate I staff.
  6. Follow UMass Chan and CPS policies and procedures.
  7. Assist with data entry, medication monitoring, and insurance eligibility for reports and client work.
  8. Support CPS pharmacist with client appeals information.
  9. Participate in staff meetings, quality initiatives, and in-service programs.
  10. Perform other client-related tasks as required.
Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Required Work Experience: Some pharmacy-related experience

Preferred Education: Active, unrestricted MA Pharmacy Technician License and/or National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)

Preferred Work Experience: Bilingual (Spanish preferred), effective communication, attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, team-oriented, dependable, basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
