Base pay range

$42.29/hr - $61.31/hr

Reporting directly to the Dean/Program Director of Occupational Therapy, the Lab-Teaching Assistant assists faculty with lab sessions, grading assignments and tests. Responsible for performing teaching and teaching-related duties. Preparing labs for class and/or practicals, monitoring student progress and facilitating student participation in learning activities. The Lab/Teaching Assistant communicates with the lead instructor regarding student performance or issues that arise and ensures the delivery of consistent content and testing. The Lab-Teaching assistant may assist with grading practicals and other required assignments.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Assist course coordinator with lab set-up, leave the classroom or laboratory clean organized and ready for next user.
  • Evaluate and grade examinations, assignments, or papers and record grades. Evaluate student work.
  • Conduct and grade practicals.
  • Participate in applicant interviews.
  • Work with the instructor to coordinate final grades for all students on the class roster.
  • Obtain materials needed for class.
  • Prepare presentations for and deliver lectures.
  • Tutor or mentor students.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education, Certifications And Licensures
  • The ability to demonstrate bilingual skills is preferred.
Required Education, Certifications, And Licensures
  • A Master of Science in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • Certified by NBCOT as an OTR (Registered Occupational Therapist) required.
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in California is required.
  • Membership with the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC) is required.
  • Membership with the American Occupational Therapy Association is required.
  • Must meet accreditation standards set forth by relevant bodies.
  • Maintain necessary professional certifications.
  • Current BLS certification including CPR with AED.
  • Health certifications for OSHA Category I position, including immunizations and TB clearance, are required and subject to change based on CDC and OSHA guidelines.
Required Experience And Skills
  • One to three years of clinical Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Proficient in English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Knowledge of office systems and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Good judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Flexible schedule willingness.
  • Proficiency with office technology and software.
