# Lab Assistant (37.5% part-time)Work Location **Los Angeles,CA**Job **#24837**Work Hours **15 hours per week, variable days**Employment Type **4 – Staff- Limited**Duration **3-months**Salary Range **$19.9-23.04 Hourly**Posted Date **May 30, 2025**Bargaining Unit **UPTE – TX****Description**The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire an organized Lab Assistant to support research involving mouse models. Responsibilities include maintaining and breeding research mice, genotyping using PCR, and managing accurate records of mouse strains and breeding activities. Experience in mouse handling, tissue collection, ELISA, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry is highly desirable. The role also includes lab support duties such as ordering supplies, preparing reagents, and ensuring proper waste disposal. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to present weekly updates and assist with protocol submissions and animal transfers.\*Note: This is a 37.5% part-time, limited role which may convert to career\*Hourly range: $19.90-$23.04**Qualifications**Required:* Good work ethics, strong communication skills, honest, and ability to work well with minimum supervision or as a part of a group.* Experience using basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges, spectrophotometer, PCR machines, pH meter, balances, gel documentation) and familiar with both PC and MAC operation systems and software programs (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).* General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents.* Experience handling animals.* Needs to be knowledgeable about cell culture, cell transfections, antibody preparation* Must be proficient in performing high-quality western blots and SDS-polyacrylamide gelsPreferred:* BS/BA in Molecular Biology or related field or equivalent experience* Understanding of University procedures and policies for working with biohazard, radioactive and hazardous chemicals, and their disposal.### ORLANDOThere’s a togetherness and higher level of commitment to teamwork at UCLA Health.
