Job summary

Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, part of Baptist Health System, is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform routine venipuncture and specimen handling in a hospital laboratory setting in Texas. The role includes specimen registration, billing support, and running CLIA-waived tests as needed.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma and one year of clinical lab experience or phlebotomy training; certification or completion of a phlebotomy program is preferred.

Qualifications

• MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent.
• PREFERRED EDUCATION: Completion of a Phlebotomy program
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: One year of clinical laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
• PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience preferred.
• REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Phlebotomy Certification where state law requires
• PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing.
• Performs venipuncture/capillary puncture as assigned; label tubes and specimen containers, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests as requested.
• Will assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.
