Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to support Laboratory Services. This role provides technical skills for sample processing and may perform essential phlebotomy duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include two years of related experience and a valid Texas driver's license. Completion of a phlebotomy course is preferred, and certification by ASCP/ACA/AMT/NCCT/NHA is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Two years related experience.
• Completion of a Phlebotomy course or equivalent experience preferred.
• Valid State of Texas Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy or other clinical duties as assigned.
• Performs computer functions for patient registration, blood collection, and specimen management.
• Determines acceptability of patient samples and prepares, stores, and transfers samples for testing.
• Performs quality control procedures on equipment and maintains inventory records.
