Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Laboratory Assistant 2 to perform phlebotomy, processing specimens, order entry, logging results, and basic waived testing. The role includes EKGs, patient instruction, and coordination across locations.

You will travel to multiple locations as needed, ensuring sample integrity and accurate data entry. Strong communication and ability to manage workload are essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Experience in phlebotomy is required.
• After three months of employment, the employee should be capable of performing as a lab assistant.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient well-being while in the laboratory and collect proper specimens.
• Enter orders into the laboratory computer.
• Collect blood, urine, nasal wash, throat and MRSA specimens and perform EKGs.
• Process specimens according to lab procedures.
• Set up urine and throat cultures as assigned.
• Perform rapid strep testing, urine dipstick analysis, urine pregnancy testing, IStat and other tests as assigned; log results.
• Assist with reception duties such as scheduling in IDX and reviewing patient orders.
