Job summary

Charles River is seeking a Laboratory Assistant I to support core lab operations including study prep, solutions handling, and tissue archiving/shipping. The role involves supervised duties, scheduling tasks, and assisting the technical staff during necropsy processes.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, and the ability to work extended hours. This on-site position offers exposure to GLP standards and a collaborative lab environment in the safety assessment

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve goals.
• Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), commensurate with essential functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
• Ability to ensure that a safe working environment is maintained by observing all safety procedures and working methods by making proper use of protective clothing and equipment, and by reading, understanding, and following all safety documents issued or notified of.
• Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Learn 1 of 3 core support skills.
• Train in how to read protocols, study requirements for prep work, solutions, shipping
• Learn to keep and track study requirements and changes to study design and support needs,
• Prosect and perform functions in a time frame set by laboratory requirements,
• Communicate with other support staff to ensure all study related material is ready to go on day of necropsy.
• Review documentation to compare to protocol requirements.
• Use and maintain instrumentation and equipment.
• Learn and know anatomic terms
• Receive, track, and prepare samples or materials, as required for department.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
