Job summary

Centers Laboratory in New Jersey is seeking a Lab Assistant I to support specimen procurement, labeling, organization and basic lab maintenance. The role includes handling samples, maintaining equipment, and assisting with routine laboratory duties.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred. PPE will be worn and a fast-paced environment is expected.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing according to lab criteria.
• Organize and maintain lab storage, samples and specimens.
• Request and pull samples for pending tests.
• Register, retrieve and discard specimens as appropriate.
• Perform daily temperature and humidity checks.
• Sanitize equipment and workspace; assist with filing records.
• Carry out inventory control and processing of supplies.
• Perform pipetting and plating of microbiology samples.
• Provide assistance to laboratory staff and leadership as needed.
• Perform clerical and administrative duties as required.
