Job summary

Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL is seeking a Lab Technician to monitor and coordinate assigned laboratories, ensuring safe, efficient operations for class laboratories.

You will assist faculty and students with equipment and procedures, set up and take down labs, stock materials, and maintain safety and inventory across multiple science disciplines.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s Degree or two-year college equivalent and 1+ year related work.
• Bachelor’s degree or science-related field preferred.
• Strong foundation in Physics helpful for lab support.
• Familiar with biology lab environments, safety procedures.
• Ability to support multiple labs and disciplines.
• Experience with scientific instrumentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and coordinates lab activities to ensure safe operations.
• Assist faculty and students with equipment use and lab procedures.
• Set up and take down labs for classes when needed.
• Maintain clean, stocked materials and inventory.
• Prepare lab materials and tests; supervise part-time staff.
• Maintain inventory; arrange service and supplies as needed.
• Maintain safe working conditions in the lab.

Compensation Range:Position Summary:Hiring Compensation Range: $ 20.35 to $22.38 per hour depending on qualifications.Job Summary:The position monitors and coordinates the activities of and provides support and assistance to assigned laboratories to enable effective and safe lab operations.Job Duties:Monitors and coordinates the activities of and provides support and assistance to assigned laboratories to enable effective and safe lab operations.Assists and supports faculty and students regarding appropriate use of equipment and lab procedures; troubleshoots problems. If appropriate, sets-up and takes down lab for class. Cleans and stocks materials. Provides necessary materials and equipment required for effective laboratory instruction and experiments.
