Our Client, a Medical Research company, is looking for a Lab Assistant for their West Hills, CA location.
Responsibilities:
- Sorting and receiving specimens in the department.
- Performing routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.
- Performing laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, recording data (temperature charts), and managing specimen storage and retrieval.
- Preparing reagents and media in the department.
- Preparing specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking for clots and fibrin, inoculation, and slide preparation.
- Performing QA/QC duties as assigned.
- Resolving pending lists and finding missing samples.
- Decontaminating work areas and performing weekly radioactive wipe tests.
- Maintaining files for department records.
- Changing gas cylinders.
- Using laboratory computer systems and operating PCs.
- Disposing of biohazardous material.
- Completing training and competency checklists as appropriate.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant training is helpful. Courses in math and science are preferred.
- Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to retain information once learned.
- Good interaction skills with coworkers, internal, and external customers, demonstrating courtesy and respect.
