- Perform various routine laboratory functions accurately to assist laboratory staff and facilitate production.
- Sort and receive specimens in the department.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance on equipment.
- Carry out laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, recording data (temperature charts), and managing specimen storage and retrieval.
- Prepare reagents and media in the department.
- Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens, checking for clots and fibrin, inoculating, and slide preparation.
- Perform QA/QC duties as assigned.
- Resolve pending lists and find missing samples.
- Decontaminate work areas and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
- Follow PPE requirements and safety regulations.
- Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs.
- Dispose of biohazardous materials properly.
- Complete training and competency checklists as required.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant training is helpful.
- Preferred courses in math and science.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Ability to retain information once learned.
- Courtesy and respectful interaction with coworkers and customers.
- Work schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 1AM - 9:30AM.
