Title: Lab Assistant

Duration: 2 months

Location: Irving, Texas, United States, 75063

Shift: Monday-Friday, 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM

Job Summary

Perform daily laboratory activities to assist professional staff and facilitate production. Responsibilities include routine laboratory functions performed accurately and precisely.

Job Requirements
  • Sorting and receiving specimens
  • Performing routine instrument maintenance
  • Handling laboratory tasks such as centrifuging, printing labels, recording data, and specimen storage
  • Preparing reagents and media
  • Preparing specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting, checking for clots, inoculation, and slide preparation
  • Performing QA/QC duties
  • Resolving pending lists and finding missing samples
  • Decontaminating work areas and performing weekly radioactive wipe tests
  • Maintaining department records and changing gas cylinders
  • Following PPE and safety regulations
  • Operating laboratory computer systems and PCs
  • Disposing of biohazardous materials
  • Completing training and competency checklists
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant training is helpful
  • Math and science courses preferred
  • No prior work experience required
Special Requirements
  • Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently
