Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Technical Trainer I to provide leadership and hands-on training in a laboratory setting. The role involves preparing staff, delivering technical training on study work, handling and restraining animals, collecting data, and ensuring compliance with GLP, SOPs, BOPs and IACUC rules.

You will work with scientific staff to develop new techniques, monitor training quality, maintain training documentation, and support ongoing education while accommodating

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; higher degrees encouraged.
• Degree in biological science preferred.
• 1 year of relevant experience; multi-species experience preferred.
• Ability to learn validated systems.
• Ability to work extended hours; no sponsorship required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure welfare and humane care for all animals.
• Coordinate and provide routine technical training for department personnel.
• Assist in new hire orientation and on-the-job training.
• Ensure training meets quality and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain training documents and databases.
• Develop, train, and implement new technical procedures.
• Report on progress of employees following training sessions.
• Maintain training lab and animal colony.
