Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking an Animal Care Technician to provide comprehensive care for laboratory animals at the site. The role includes daily health observations, feeding, sanitizing enclosures, and environmental enrichment.

This full-time position operates on a 40-hour week, Tuesday through Saturday. The job emphasizes adherence to GLP standards and SOPs, with opportunities to advance to lead/primary technician under guidance.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 6 months related experience in animal research and/or husbandry preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the ALAT level preferred if applicable.
• Other: Ability to handle common laboratory animal species and follow GLP regulations and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• May serve as lead/primary technician and perform technical duties with guidance.
• Handle, restrain, and provide care for all species of animals at the site.
• Observe animals for general health and well-being.
• Clean primary enclosure and enclosure area for animals.
• Sanitize cages, enrichment devices and other equipment.
• Measure and distribute feed to animals per established procedures.
