Job summary

Charles River is hiring an Animal Care Technician I for the CRADL facility in San Diego. You will observe and care for laboratory animals, perform daily husbandry, and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal guidelines.

The role requires attention to animal welfare, proper handling of supplies, and adherence to safety procedures, with a Tuesday-Saturday 7:00 am–3:30 pm schedule. Compensation ranges per hour with benefits and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in animal or life sciences preferred.
• ALAT certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Observe, monitor, and document health and environment of lab animals.
• Perform routine husbandry: feeding, watering, cage changing and cleaning.
• Report animal welfare concerns to veterinary staff.
• Maintain QA documentation and logs.
• Handle and transfer animals and supplies; maintain safety procedures.
• Perform daily cage duties and routine sanitation.
