Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Comparative Medicine Tech I to maintain clean animal facilities, manage cage maintenance, and support autoclave and rack washer operations. Daily animal care includes feeding, watering, and record-keeping in a BSL-2/BSL-3 environment.

The role emphasizes strict adherence to guidelines and continuous process improvement. Responsibilities include sanitation of cages and spaces, equipment upkeep, and reporting issues to supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of animal care experience.
• H.S./G.E.D. required.
• Purina Test required.

Responsibilities

• Provide animals with clean cages, water, and food; report equipment maintenance.
• Sanitize cages and maintain washroom equipment; manage waste and bedding.
• Ensure clean and operating equipment; minor adjustments to equipment as needed.
• Provide a clean and safe work environment; report facility damage to supervisor.
• Record cage census and environmental conditions; follow biosafety requirements for BSL-2/BSL-3.
• Follow detailed written instructions and participate in departmental training.
• Prepare for ALAT certification and contribute to problem solving.
