Charles River Laboratories, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking an Animal Support Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, supporting the Boston and Cambridge area.

You will maintain and monitor the health, production and physical environment within client animal facilities, in a floater role across sites. Responsibilities include following SOPs, monitoring animal health, performing husbandry, recording data, assisting with handling, euthanasia per guidelines, and maintaining clean

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year related animal handling/husbandry/tech experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field with zero experience in animal handling/husbandry/tech
• ALAT certification preferred
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
• Authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa

Responsibilities

• Review and comply with SOPs and QA standards for the area
• Monitor animal health and welfare with daily health observations and husbandry duties
• Provide environmental enrichment appropriate to species
• Maintain records of animal breeding, health, housing and isolator or support areas
• Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species
• Perform humane chemical and physical euthanasia per guidelines
• Maintain animal housing areas, PPE use, and sanitation/decontamination
• Receive, inspect and house incoming animals
• Operate equipment and manage cagewash and autoclaves
• Assist with receipt, stocking and maintenance of supplies
• Prepare and submit written records, charts, logs and inventories
• Interact with customers to resolve requests and complaints and provide technical assistance
