Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation in Deer Park, TX is seeking a Lab Analyst to drive and perform QC lab activities and analytical responsibilities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable testing, record results, and ensure safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have a chemistry background with hands-on lab experience, strong communication, and proficiency with SAP/LIMS and MS Office. This full-time role offers a rotating shift and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in chemistry or related field or 5+ years of experience in a lab.
  • 2+ years of lab experience.
  • Experience with physical property testing, wet chemistry, or advanced instrumental techniques.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and instrument control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform QC lab activities and testing per SWP/SOP.
  • Prepare solutions and test materials.
  • Document data in lab notebooks, SAP, and LIMS.
  • Dispose of chemicals safely.
  • Train new employees in basic lab skills.
  • Oversee daily lab maintenance.

How You’ll Make An Impact

As a Lab Analyst, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving and performing all Quality Control (QC) Lab activities, including but not limited to all Standard Work Process (SWP), Management System, and analytical responsibilities. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:

  • Provide internal and external customers with the highest level of customer service in responsiveness while performing QC activities.
  • Interface with all corporate, commercial, supply chain, customer experience, and lab/operations personnel.
  • Communicate between departments when reporting results and execute SWP/SOP in an exemplary manner.
  • Perform all test methods without supervision within precision and accuracy standards.
  • Prepare all solutions needed for testing.
  • Perform testing on raw material, in-process, finished good, and miscellaneous samples.
  • Document all data in corresponding laboratory notebook, SAP, LIMS as business needs dictate.
  • Dispose of all chemicals safely.
  • Perform required testing pertaining to customer complaints, discrepancies, & laboratory investigations.
  • Report results to operations, in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve laboratory results as needed.
  • Assist in the performance of qualifications and validations of instruments, test methods, and basic PMs.
  • Troubleshoot/self-evaluate OOS results.
  • Assist in writing SWP, SOPs, methods, protocols, and reports.
  • Perform daily laboratory maintenance.
  • Oversee the training of new employee’s basic laboratory skills and functions.
  • Perform simple problem solving and participate in improving daily work.
Required Qualifications That Enables Your Success
  • Associate degree in chemistry or a related technical field or 5+ years of experience in a laboratory environment in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience with one of the following analytical techniques:
    • Physical property testing.
    • Wet chemistry.
    • Advance instrumental analytical techniques.
  • Highly self-motivated individual, focused on providing high quality laboratory data in an efficient manner, while exhibiting excellent workplace skills.
  • Solid background in Microsoft Office and computer-based instrument control systems for analytical equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to make competent, independent, decisions in a timely manner to ensure excellent progress on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and or changing priorities with minimal to no supervision.
  • Must possess the ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal customers, external customers, vendors, and various stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications That Drives You Forward
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
  • 2+ years of industrial chemical manufacturing laboratory experience.
  • Analytical experience with advanced instrumental techniques like GC, LC, ICP, and NMR.
  • Analytical experience with wet chemistry and physical property testing.
  • Experience with LIMS and SAP QM modules.
  • Experience with proper usage and administration of Lab notebooks / elog notebooks.
  • Experience with root cause problem solving techniques and tools.
  • Experience with Statistical Quality Control methodologies.
  • Experience working in ISO9001/14001/45001 environments.
  • Experience with internal auditing.
