Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a L2 Java Support Engineer in Bentonville, AR to provide production support for Java applications and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role requires weekend coverage and incident management within SLAs, with emphasis on cloud-based troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

You will work in a hybrid model and engage development, infrastructure, and business teams to implement durable solutions and reduce recurring issues.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Java application development, production support, or a related technical role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and SQL.
• Experience analyzing and resolving production incidents in an enterprise application environment.
• Experience troubleshooting cloud-based applications, including reviewing pod logs and performing pod restarts.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 production support for Java applications, including weekend and support coverage shifts.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents within established service-level agreement timelines.
• Monitor application alerts, investigate technical issues, and coordinate timely corrective actions.
• Lead incident triage calls and engage the appropriate development, infrastructure, cloud, and business teams.
• Perform root cause analysis and partner with development teams to implement permanent solutions for recurring problems.
• Provide clear and timely updates to business users and project stakeholders regarding escalated or business-impacting incidents.
• Develop automation, operational improvements, or workarounds that reduce recurring incidents and ticket volume.

As a L2 Java Support Engineer, you will make an impact by supporting business-critical transportation applications and ensuring incidents are resolved accurately and within service-level commitments. You will be a valued member of the application support team and work collaboratively with development teams, business users, project stakeholders, and other technical teams.

These will help you stand out

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as OpenObserve, Splunk, Dynatrace, or Grafana.
• Experience conducting root cause analyses and recommending long-term technical solutions.
• Knowledge of application support automation and techniques for reducing recurring ticket volume.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear updates during high-impact incidents.
• Experience supporting transportation, logistics, retail, or other high-volume enterprise applications.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $55,000 – $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
