Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead our cloud-native Kubernetes initiatives. This role focuses on scaling managed services, ensuring security and performance, and guiding cross-team architectural choices across the Compute division.

You will mentor engineers, drive alignment across product teams, and help integrate open-source technologies to deliver simple-to-use managed Kubernetes services at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience building and scaling managed services and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Expert knowledge of container runtimes and orchestrators.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide cross-team architectural oversight and strategic guidance for cloud-native efforts.
• Act as a unifying technical authority for cloud-native initiatives and ensure architectural alignment.
• Partner with cross-functional leadership to integrate diverse cloud-native technologies across product teams and core platform infrastructure.
• Facilitate a unified technical strategy that enables teams to deploy and operate cloud-native services efficiently.
• Mentor engineering teams fostering innovation, collaboration, and shared standards.
