Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with deep Kubernetes and cloud-native expertise to guide the evolution of our managed services.

You will help scale, secure, and enhance our Kubernetes offerings while integrating open-source technologies for simple-to-use cloud-native products. In this role, you will mentor engineers, align cross-team architecture, and drive a unified strategy across the cloud-native landscape.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience building and scaling managed services and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Expert knowledge of container runtimes (e.g., Docker) and orchestrators.
• Mastery in Go, Python, or Bash.
• Champion for diverse opinions in technical debates.

Responsibilities

• Providing cross-team architectural oversight and strategic guidance to ensure cloud-native efforts are cohesively implemented across all product development teams.
• Acting as a unifying technical authority for cloud-native initiatives, ensuring architectural alignment and technical excellence organization-wide.
• Partnering with cross-functional leadership to integrate cloud-native technologies across product teams and core platform infrastructure.
• Facilitating a unified technical strategy to deploy and operate cloud-native services efficiently across multiple products.
• Mentoring engineering teams to foster innovation, collaboration, and shared technical standards.
